Preview: Mauldin Mavericks vs. Woodmont Wildcats

The Mauldin Mavericks will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Woodmont Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Mauldin will be strutting in after a win while Woodmont will be coming in after a loss.

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Mauldin ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past Hillcrest 64-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Mauldin has posted yet this season.

Mauldin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braden Hershberger, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Hershberger has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. Nathan Wilbourne was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Woodmont's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of T.L. Hanna. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Woodmont has scored all season.

The win makes it two in a row for Mauldin and bumps their season record up to 9-10. As for Woodmont, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.

Mauldin skirted past Woodmont 64-62 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Does Mauldin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Woodmont turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
