Baseball Recap: Avon Grove Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Avon Grove posted their closest win since May 13, 2024 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Unionville Longhorns 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Avon Grove got a great performance from Devin Rinker as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Rinker a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Reid Mamula was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Brendon Baiocco also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Avon Grove's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Unionville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
