Preview: Brandeis Broncos vs. Madison Mavericks
Brandeis and Madison are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The Brandeis Broncos will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Madison Mavericks at 8:00 p.m. Brandeis will be strutting in after a victory while Madison will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, Brandeis beat Lee 41-34. The victory was all the more spectacular given Brandeis' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 391st, while Lee is ranked 168th).
Among those leading the charge was Ashton Pena, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten assists. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Trevor Short was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Madison suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They suffered a tough 76-56 defeat at the hands of SA Roosevelt. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Brandeis' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-13. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 20-10.
