Basketball Recap: St. Francis Starts off Right with Win over Lake Shore

St. Francis had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 72-54 win over the Lake Shore Eagles on Friday.

St. Francis had a senior duo take command as Matthew Zielinski shot 64% from the field en route to 21 points and eight rebounds and Andrew Lindstrom went 7-for-13 to rack up 14 points along with eight boards and six steals. Another player making a difference was Mason Anderson, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

St. Francis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Lake Shore's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, St. Francis will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Red Raiders' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Lake Shore, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Global Concepts at 5:30 p.m. on the 18th.
