Basketball Game Preview: Onteora Eagles vs. Spackenkill Spartans

Onteora hasn't had much luck against Spackenkill recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Onteora Eagles will head out to face off against the Spackenkill Spartans at 4:30 p.m. Spackenkill took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Onteora, who comes in off a win.

Onteora will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Wallkill, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Onteora came out on top against Wallkill by a score of 64-57 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Spackenkill suffered their closest defeat since February 28, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Pawling by a score of 59-56. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), the Spartans still had to take the loss.

Spackenkill has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Onteora, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.

Onteora took a serious blow against Spackenkill in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 70-38. Can Onteora avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
