Basketball Recap: Phillipsburg Comes Up Short

Phillipsburg suffered their biggest defeat since January 10th on Thursday. They took a blow against the Beloit Trojans, falling 68-37. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost six in a row.

Leading Beloit to victory were Eli Johnson and Jackson Cheney. Johnson went 11 of 12 to rack up 24 points and seven boards, while Cheney went 5 for 7 on his way to 15 points and three steals. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. Luke Cheney was another key player, putting up seven points and six assists.

Phillipsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Beloit, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Panthers challenge the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Beloit, they will take on Southeast of Saline at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast of Saline is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season.
