Softball Recap: Oneida Comes Up Short

Oneida couldn't beat Oliver Springs on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Indians came up short against the Bobcats, falling 22-4. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Brailey-Grace England was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaidance Lewallen, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Oneida's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Oliver Springs, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Oneida will venture away from home to take on Jellico at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.29 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Oliver Springs, they are taking a road trip to challenge Oakdale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 12.2 runs per game this season.
