Basketball Recap: Pike County Comes Up Short

Pike County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-35 heartbreaker at the hands of the Straughn Tigers. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

It was another big night for Clark Jordan, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks for Straughn. The team also got some help courtesy of Clark Gay, who posted four points and six rebounds.

Pike County's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Straughn, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11.

Pike County will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Varsity Opponent at 2:00 p.m. on December 28th. Straughn will take on Pleasant Home in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pleasant Home knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Straughn likes a good challenge.
