Basketball Game Preview: Academy of the Holy Names vs. Catholic Central Crusaders

Academy of the Holy Names is 2-8 against Catholic Central since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Academy of the Holy Names will welcome the Catholic Central Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Academy of the Holy Names came up short against La Salle Institute and fell 61-54. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Academy of the Holy Names came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while La Salle Institute is ranked 218th).

Meanwhile, Catholic Central was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 59-54 to Albany Academy for Girls.

This is the second loss in a row for Academy of the Holy Names and nudges their season record down to 14-5. As for Catholic Central, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3.
