Baseball Recap: Owen Comes Up Short

Owen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Smoky Mountain Mustangs, falling 16-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warhorses of the 14-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Hayden Burpeau made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Gabe Mahar was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Owen's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Smoky Mountain, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

While Owen had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
