Baseball Recap: Langtree Charter Academy Beats Queen's Grant for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Langtree Charter Academy won against Piedmont Community Charter last Monday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Langtree Charter Academy Lions didn't even let the Queen's Grant Stallions on the board, marking the Langtree Charter Academy Lions' second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Lions have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Garrett Barbee and Paul Napoli made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Barbee didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Napoli tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave Barbee a new career-high in strikeouts. At bat, Barbee scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Napoli got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI. Barbee also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mark Pouthier, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI. Another was Aiden Gelpke, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Langtree Charter Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Queen's Grant only posted an OBP of .278.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Queen's Grant, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Langtree Charter Academy will venture away from home to square off against Elkin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elkin will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Queen's Grant, they will look to defend their home field on March 19th against North Mecklenburg at 4:30 p.m.
