Volleyball Game Preview: Fernley Vaqueros vs. Dayton Dust Devils

The Fernley Vaqueros are taking a road trip to take on the Dayton Dust Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fernley will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Fernley barely beat Spring Creek the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vaqueros were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Spartans on Saturday.

While Fernley won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-21, 29-27.

Dayton hadn't beaten Elko on the road since November 5, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Dust Devils had just enough and edged out the Indians 3-2. The Dust Devils haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Dayton got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 30-28, 19-25, 21-25, 25-9, 15-9.

Fernley's victory bumped their record up to 23-6. As for Dayton, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.

Everything went Fernley's way against Dayton in their previous matchup on October 3rd, as Fernley made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vaqueros since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
