Baseball Recap: Kaufman Takes a Loss

Kaufman fell victim to Forney and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Forney Jackrabbits by a score of 2-0. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Jackrabbits: they've now lost five in a row.

Abraham Ramos was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Kaufman saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Crutcher, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Kaufman's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3-1. As for Forney, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Kaufman and Forney should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Kaufman will square off against Ennis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 519 places (316 vs. 835). The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Kaufman: 2.4, Forney: 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Similarly, Forney (ranked 339th) will meet North Forney (ranked 855th) at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
