Recap: Nixon Mustangs vs. Juarez-Lincoln Huskies
The Nixon Mustangs had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They claimed a resounding 94-18 victory over Juarez-Lincoln at home. That 76 points margin sets a new team best for Nixon this season.
Jose Escobar continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Julius Garcia was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Nixon pushed their record up to 16-9 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.0 points per game. As for Juarez-Lincoln, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 17 of their last 18 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-24 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nixon will take on Martin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Martin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 738th, while Nixon is ranked 309th). As for Juarez-Lincoln, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mission Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Mission Veterans Memorial and four for Juarez-Lincoln.
