Softball Recap: Jacksonville Comes Up Short

Jacksonville extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping them down to 3-17. They lost 11-0 to the Whitehouse Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 back in March.

As for Whitehouse, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games.

For Whitehouse's part, they let Shilee Yutterman and Analee Becerra run wild. Yutterman fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3, while Becerra went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Becerra a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Avery Edenfield, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

Coming up, Jacksonville will host Nacogdoches at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.74 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Whitehouse, they will face off against Lufkin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
