Basketball Recap: Cerritos Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cerritos can now relate to. They took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the El Toro Chargers on Wednesday.

When it comes to explaining why Cerritos lost, don't look at Jaylen Barsana. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-11 to rack up 18 points and five rebounds. Barsana is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Benson Cho, who went 5-for-10 en route to 12 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Cerritos smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Cerritos' defeat dropped their record down to 13-15. As for El Toro, their win bumped their record up to 16-13.

Cerritos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for El Toro, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 74-72 loss against Capistrano Valley Christian on the 14th.
