Baseball Game Preview: West Chicago Wildcats vs. Willowbrook Warriors

The West Chicago Wildcats will head out to challenge the Willowbrook Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

West Chicago is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Proviso West 4-3.

The team relied heavily on Tommy Doyle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Bell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Willowbrook owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over Riverside-Brookfield. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Noah Edison looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jory Crocker was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

West Chicago's record is now 9-20. As for Willowbrook, their record now sits at 25-9.

West Chicago couldn't quite finish off Willowbrook in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
