Basketball Recap: Burroughs Skates Past Nerinx Hall with Ease

Burroughs won the last time they faced Nerinx Hall and things went their way on Thursday too. The Burroughs Bombers claimed a resounding 66-33 win over the Nerinx Hall Markers. Given the Bombers' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while the Markers are ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Burroughs' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Breaunna Ward, who shot 88% from the field on her way to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Ward a new career-high in shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Moriyah Douglass, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards.

Burroughs has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points over those games. Nerinx Hall's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-10.

Burroughs wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 67-30 win against Lutheran North on the 28th. Nerinx Hall does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
