Basketball Recap: James Butler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lakewood Ranch over Parrish Community

Lakewood Ranch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 55-42 to the Parrish Community Bulls. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 593rd, while the Bulls are ranked 285th).

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was James Butler, who posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wes Henry, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 10 points.

Lakewood Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Parrish Community, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.

Lakewood Ranch has already played their next game (against Venice), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Parrish Community will look to defend their home court on Saturday against IMG Academy Silver at 1:30 p.m. Parrish Community is facing IMG Academy Silver at the right time seeing as IMG Academy Silver is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
