Recap: Chillicothe Hornets vs. St. Pius X Warriors

The Chillicothe Hornets waltzed into their game on Tuesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They walked away with a 53-45 win over St. Pius X. Given Chillicothe's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Warriors are ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chillicothe found their leader in underclassman Jaishon White, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of James Mathew, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.

Chillicothe pushed their record up to 12-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for St. Pius X, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Chillicothe will head out on the road to take on the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Benton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully the Hornets likes a good challenge. As for St. Pius X, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Spoofhounds at 6:30 p.m. Maryville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 485 points over their last seven contests.
