Baseball Recap: Seminole Drops Season-High Score on Clearwater

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seminole). Everything went their way against the Clearwater Tornadoes on Monday as they made off with a 19-3 win. The Warhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Seminole got a massive performance out of JJ Baysinger, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave Baysinger a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Duffy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

Seminole was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Seminole's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Clearwater, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seminole will venture away from home to take on Bayshore at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bruins have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.12 runs per game on average), something the Warhawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Clearwater, they will head out on the road to challenge Tarpon Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tornadoes are facing the Spongers at the right time seeing as the Spongers are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
