Basketball Recap: Concord Comes Up Short on the Road Against Central Cabarrus + How To Watch

Concord kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 67-59 to the Central Cabarrus Vikings. The Spiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Defeat or not, Concord got some senior leadership from Jayden Beyan and Kyzen Coleman. Beyan posted 17 points along with seven assists and three steals, while Coleman went 6-for-14 on his way to 12 points and six boards. Beyan's big performance that evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. CJ Beckford was another key player, putting up seven points.

Central Cabarrus' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Parker Watkins, who put up 19 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Dexter Montague, who shot 55% from the field en route to 15 points and five rebounds.

Coincidentally, Concord and Central Cabarrus will both be playing Mount Pleasant the next time they take the court. The Spiders will host the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Vikings will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
