Softball Recap: Spring Valley Comes Up Short

Spring Valley had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-12 to make it 13. They came up short against the Boyceville Bulldogs, falling 14-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in April.

As for Boyceville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-3. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

For Boyceville's part, Aubrey Malean made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Malean has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Boyceville got a massive performance out of Delaney Olson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Olson also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Emma Harvey was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles.

Looking ahead, Spring Valley will be playing at home against Durand-Arkansaw at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Boyceville has already played their next match (against Prairie Farm), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
