Football Recap: James 'Jimmy' Haren Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Galena Park

Waltrip had won four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 5-1 to make it five. They walked away with a 44-37 win over the Galena Park Yellowjackets. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Waltrip got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was James 'Jimmy' Haren out in front who threw for 190 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in one TD on the ground. The Rams' leading receiver Lil Eric Norris was Haren's top target yet again, picking up 111 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Waltrip didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Justin Henry.

As for Galena Park, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (34), they still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Galena Park lost, don't look at Cary Clay. Despite the final result, he rushed for 321 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game, Clay is now up to 15 rushing touchdowns on the season.

Coming up, Waltrip will square off against Westbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Galena Park, they will be playing at home against Sharpstown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets are facing the Apollos at the right time seeing as the Apollos are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
