Softball Recap: O'Bryant Comes Up Short

O'Bryant fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Boston English on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 7-6. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Sydney Johnson spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 20 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kayla Hayes made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Adalis Rivera, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

O'Bryant now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Boston English, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-2.

O'Bryant has already played their next game, a 9-8 defeat against Brookline on the 14th. As for Boston English, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-6 win against Martha's Vineyard Regional on the 15th.
