Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Sara Basnight and Maddy Beatson Lead First Flight to Victory

First Flight hadn't done well against Northeastern recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The First Flight Nighthawks came out on top against the Northeastern Eagles by a score of 49-40. This was a revenge game for the Nighthawks: when they faced off against the Eagles last Saturday, they had to take a 46-32 loss.

First Flight was led to victory by Maddy Beatson and Sara Basnight. Beatson posted 17 points and seven steals, while Basnight dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Basnight a new career-high in assists (four). Summer Stevens was another key player, putting up two points and nine boards.

The victory made it two in a row for First Flight and bumps their season record up to 17-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points over those games. As for Northeastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.

Looking ahead, First Flight will take on Currituck County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Currituck County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches. Northeastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
