Baseball Recap: Corry Has No Trouble Against Conneaut Area

After losing to Conneaut Area the last time they met, Corry decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Beavers put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 9-3 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Beavers, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Karson Chamberlin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Corry is 3-1 when Chamberlin posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Carson Braswell was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

The win got Corry back to even at 6-6. As for Conneaut Area, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Coming up, Corry will be playing at home against Eisenhower at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.13 runs per game on average), something the Beavers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Conneaut Area, they will head out to challenge North East at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grape Pickers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
