Baseball Recap: Dirigo Takes a Loss

Dirigo extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-6 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Madison Bulldogs. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 9-3 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Madison, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Dirigo since May 3, 2016.

For Madison's part, not much got past Griffin Dickey, who gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Dirigo off the board.

At the plate, Madison's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Xavier Estes, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Dirigo will face off against rival Spruce Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Madison is set to take on their familiar foe Monmouth Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
