Basketball Recap: Ben Bestgen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tipton over Princeton

After flying high against Climax Springs last Saturday, Tipton came back down to earth. The Tipton Cardinals took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Princeton Tigers on Friday. The game marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ben Bestgen, who posted 12 points. Bestgen continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Lucas Cashman was another key player, putting up six points along with six boards and five steals.

Even though they lost, Tipton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Tipton's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Princeton, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tipton will challenge Blair Oaks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Princeton, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Princeton Tigers duke it out with the Mercer Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
