Softball Recap: Dos Pueblos Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Dos Pueblos ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Rio Mesa Spartans 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Chargers have posted since March 8, 2024.

Zella Cassidy was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anastasia Brunner, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Dos Pueblos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Dos Pueblos' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Rio Mesa, they moved to 13-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Spartans beat Dos Pueblos by a score of 5-4 on Friday.
