Basketball Recap: Discovery Christian Comes Up Short

Discovery Christian scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They were beaten by the Sylva Bay Academy Saints 50-16. Discovery Christian hasn't had much luck with Sylva Bay Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Sydney Poole had an outrageously good game for Sylva Bay Academy as she posted 11 points in addition to eight assists and seven rebounds. Poole also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Sylva Bay Academy is 4-2 when she posts at least three steals, but 5-7 otherwise. Reese Shumock was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Discovery Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Sylva Bay Academy, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-9 record.

Discovery Christian has already played their next match (against Laurel Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sylva Bay Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Prentiss Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
