Baseball Recap: Felicity-Franklin Comes Up Short

Felicity-Franklin extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 3-8 in the process. They came up short against the Bethel-Tate Tigers, falling 14-1. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 11-7.

Felicity-Franklin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grady Jowers, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Bethel-Tate, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Bethel-Tate's side, Landen Schultian was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Schultian was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carter Moss and Simon Houser did most of the damage at the plate: Moss got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI, while Houser got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Moss a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landen Brumfield, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Felicity-Franklin will face off against Blanchester at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bethel-Tate, they will be taking part in a tournament against Bishop Fenwick at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
