Basketball Recap: KIPP College Prep Falls Short Against Ranked Friendship Collegiate Academy

On Tuesday, KIPP College Prep faced Friendship Collegiate Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The KIPP College Prep Panthers took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Friendship Collegiate Academy Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-35 back in January.

Despite the loss, KIPP College Prep still got an impressive performance from Jaelyn Richardson, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten boards. Richardson is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Layla Latson, who posted ten points.

Z'Niyah Moore was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten boards for Friendship Collegiate Academy. Moore is becoming a predictor of Friendship Collegiate Academy's success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is undefeated (and 7-9 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Miyazia Harris, who had 12 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 7-4. As for Friendship Collegiate Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

KIPP College Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 64-30 victory against Friendship Tech Prep Academy on the 30th. As for Friendship Collegiate Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Paul Public Charter International on the 30th.
