Soccer Game Preview: Grimsley vs. Weddington

The Grimsley Whirlies will challenge the Weddington Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Grimsley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 13 games.

Grimsley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over South Iredell. Considering Grimsley have won 13 matches by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit South Iredell with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Olivia Reeves (2), Adison Popovich, and Ella Conway.

Three must be Weddington's lucky number: they beat Butler with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Warriors walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Bulldogs. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Weddington's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Butler are ranked 117th).

Weddington's win bumped their record up to 13-7-1. As for Grimsley, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3-1.
