Valley Falls has gone a perfect 4-0 against Horton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Dragons will be playing at home against the Chargers at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Valley Falls has four straight victories, Horton has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Horton's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Valley Falls hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Dragons never let Jackson Heights get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Monday. Considering the Dragons have won 16 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Collin Kearney was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last ten games.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Kearney, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was AJ Reeves, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Valley Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson Heights only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, Horton came up short against Jefferson County North on Thursday, falling 25-1.
Valley Falls pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Horton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-19.
Everything went Valley Falls' way against Horton in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Valley Falls made off with a 16-1 victory. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
