Basketball Recap: Southwest Legacy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Garnelle Zor and Milagros Martinez

Southwest Legacy lost against Jay back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Southwest Legacy Titans came up short against the Jay Mustangs, falling 56-36. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 866th, while the Mustangs are ranked 211th).

Southwest Legacy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Milagros Martinez, who posted 12 points and five boards, and Garnelle Zor, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. The game was Zor's sixth in a row with at least 16 points.

Ny'Ashia Barnes continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Jay, going 6-for-15 en route to 12 points along with six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Garcia, who scored eight points in addition to three steals and three blocks.

Southwest Legacy dropped their record down to 9-24 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Jay, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 25-9 record this season.

Southwest Legacy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jay, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-19 win against Brackenridge on the 11th.
