Recap: Zeeland East Chix vs. Union Red Hawks
The third road game was the charm for the Zeeland East Chix, as they earned their first road win of the season. They blew past Union, posting a 50-22 victory on the road. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Zeeland East also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Zeeland East's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mirra Fenlon, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Fenlon's third in a row with at least ten points. Emily Wierenga was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Zeeland East's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Union, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zeeland East will take on Wyoming at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wyoming presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Zeeland East in Michigan (Wyoming is ranked 206th, while Zeeland East is ranked 497th). As for Union, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Zeeland West at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th.
