Basketball Recap: Discovery Christian Comes Up Short

Discovery Christian lost against Woodlawn Prep back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Discovery Christian fell 44-33 to the Woodlawn Prep Wolfpack. While losing is never fun, Discovery Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Woodlawn Prep is ranked 101st).

Woodlawn Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cole Sinclair, who posted 20 points and five rebounds. Sinclair is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 20 or more in the last four games he's played. Braylon Reed was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Discovery Christian is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. As for Woodlawn Prep, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 21-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Discovery Christian will square off against Laurel Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Discovery Christian is facing Laurel Christian at the right time seeing as Laurel Christian is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. Woodlawn Prep has already played their next contest (against Tensas Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
