Basketball Recap: Walther Christian Academy Takes a Loss

It looked like the Kentucky Derby when Walther Christian Academy faced off against Yorkville Christian on Saturday. The Walther Christian Academy Broncos took a blow against the Yorkville Christian Mustangs, falling 90-45. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while the Mustangs are ranked 172nd).

Yorkville Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tray Alford led the charge by going 9 for 15 to rack up 23 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Riley, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists.

Walther Christian Academy is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-17. As for Yorkville Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-10.

Walther Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Yorkville Christian, they will face off against DePue at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Yorkville Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully DePue likes a good challenge.
