Ashe County took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Hibriten, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Huskies had just enough and edged out the Panthers 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Huskies: when they faced off against the Panthers back in March, they had to take a 7-1 defeat.
Maleah Lovell made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
