Softball Recap: Eastern Takes a Loss

Clay hit Eastern with a four-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 7-3.

Kenleigh Bapst was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Eastern and nudges their season record down to 17-5. As for Clay, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-7.

Eastern wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-3 loss against Valley on the 5th. As for Clay, they will take on Western at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.5 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
