Football Recap: St. Mary Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. Mary can now relate to. They took a blow against the Ascension Catholic Bulldogs on Friday, falling 62-9. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2021.

Ashton Johnson threw for 195 yards and one TD. Cole Yopp was his top target, picking up 47 receiving yards and one score.

The defeat snapped St. Mary's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 6-6 record. As for Ascension Catholic, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2.

St. Mary does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ascension Catholic, they have already played their next game, a 50-42 win against Catholic of Pointe Coupee on the 28th.
