Softball Game Preview: Luther Knights vs. La Crosse Central Riverhawks

The Luther Knights will take on the La Crosse Central Riverhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Luther lost 8-2 to Arcadia on Thursday. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, La Crosse Central didn't have quite enough to beat West Salem last Thursday and fell 5-3.

Carmen Peterson was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Peterson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Ellie Gillitzer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and one double.

Luther couldn't quite get it done against La Crosse Central in their previous meeting back in March of 2017 as they fell 8-3. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
