Baseball Game Preview: Tidewater Academy Warriors vs. Kenston Forest Kavaliers

For the first time this season, Tidewater Academy will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Thursday. They will head out to take on the Kenston Forest Kavaliers at 4:30 p.m.

Tidewater Academy can't be to happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Tuesday. They came up short against Broadwater Academy, falling 16-0.

Meanwhile, everything went Kenston Forest's way against Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot on Tuesday as Kenston Forest made off with a 14-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Kavaliers in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won eight in a row.

Graham Sledd was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Sledd was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Jobe Sullivan was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Kyle Shaw was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Kenston Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot only posted an OBP of .419.

Tidewater Academy suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Kenston Forest when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can Tidewater Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
