Basketball Recap: Madison West Takes a Loss

Madison West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Vel Phillips Memorial Spartans and fell 100-27. While losing is never fun, the Regents can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 461st, while the Spartans are ranked 79th).

Madison West's defeat dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Vel Phillips Memorial, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Madison West has already played their next game (against Milwaukee Riverside), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Vel Phillips Memorial, they will challenge Madison East at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
