Basketball Game Preview: St. Andrew's Lions vs. Westminster Schools of Augusta Wildcats

St. Andrew has gone 4-0 against Westminster Schools of Augusta recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the St. Andrew's Lions duke it out with the Westminster Schools of Augusta Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. St. Andrew's knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Westminster Schools of Augusta likes a good challenge.

St. Andrew's will head into Tuesday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 22-point drubbing they dealt Frederica Academy on Tuesday. Everything went St. Andrew's way against Frederica Academy as St. Andrew's made off with a 60-38 win. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season.

St. Andrew's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ja'Cari Glover, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards, and Amari Cook, who posted 11 points along with five assists and three steals. Glover's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Chiel Singleton was another key player, putting up four points and six steals.

St. Andrew's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Westminster Schools of Augusta sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-41 victory over Augusta Prep Day on Thursday.

Westminster Schools of Augusta's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for St. Andrew's, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

St. Andrew's was able to grind out a solid win over Westminster Schools of Augusta when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 57-44. Will St. Andrew's repeat their success, or does Westminster Schools of Augusta have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
