Preview: Clewiston Tigers vs. Okeechobee Brahmans
Having just played yesterday, the Clewiston Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Okeechobee Brahmans at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Clewiston will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Clewiston posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 32-11 margin over Glades Day. Given Clewiston's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while Glades Day is ranked 621st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clewiston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kalyn Johnson, who scored 11 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Milan Holomes, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Okeechobee had to suffer through a rough 75-30 loss at the hands of Martin County. Okeechobee has struggled against Martin County recently, as their contest back in December of 2023 was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Clewiston's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. As for Okeechobee, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Clewiston took a serious blow against Okeechobee in their previous matchup back in December of 2020, falling 66-30. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Clewiston was down 32-10.
