Basketball Game Preview: Ardrey Kell Knights vs. Providence Panthers

Ardrey Kell is 10-0 against Providence since December of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Ardrey Kell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Providence likes a good challenge.

Ardrey Kell is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Forest Hills: they outscored them in every quarter. Ardrey Kell took down Forest Hills 69-50 on Friday. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 399th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ardrey Kell can attribute much of their success to Brett Freeman, who went 10 of 15 on his way to 25 points in addition to five boards and three steals, and Braden Suggs, who went 8 for 11 on his way to 18 points along with five assists and three steals. The contest was Freeman's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryceton Thomas, who posted six points in addition to five assists and three steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Ardrey Kell was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February.

Meanwhile, Providence can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They snuck past Porter Ridge with a 57-51 victory.

Providence's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8. As for Ardrey Kell, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Ardrey Kell strolled past Providence in their previous matchup back in November by a score of 62-45. Does Ardrey Kell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Providence turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
