Gary Trent Jr. of
Prolific Prep Academy (Napa, Calif.) closed his recruitment Thursday night by committing to Duke on ESPNU.
The nation's second-rated shooting guard and 11th overall recruit became the Blue Devils' second pledge in the 2017 class. He chose Duke over Michigan State and UCLA, among other suitors.
The 6-foot-5, 213-pound polished scorer came from Findlay Prep this summer after three seasons in Minnesota. Trent Jr. racked up 25.9 points per game last year in guiding Apple Valley to the
Class AAAA semifinals and earned
first team MaxPreps Junior All-American honors.
The two-time USA Basketball gold medalist also averaged the third-highest scoring average at the Peach Jam with 22.9 points per game.
The son of former NBA first-round pick Gary Trent seems to be following in his father's footsteps.
