Basketball Game Preview: Wolf Point Wolves vs. Malta Mustangs

Wolf Point is 0-10 against Malta since December of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Wolf Point Wolves will challenge the Malta Mustangs. Wolf Point has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Wolf Point is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They pulled ahead with a 63-62 photo finish over Glasgow on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wolves as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Malta had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They beat the Warriors by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 63-22. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Warriors are ranked 70th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Malta is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Wolf Point, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.

Wolf Point was taken down by Malta 67-15 when the teams last played back in January. Can Wolf Point avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
